How Sculptra works
PLLA-based collagen induction
PLLA microparticles induce a tissue collagen-forming response. Volume from the injected fluid immediately after treatment must be distinguished from later gradual changes. Widespread volume loss and local wrinkles are assessed, considering the possibility of nodules and visibility in thin skin. Rather than fixing a session count, the area needing treatment is judged after the previous response has sufficiently developed.
Expected changes and suitable candidates
Assess skin thickness and the extent of widespread volume loss for staged correction, considering delayed nodules and overcorrection risks
If a gradual approach is preferred over a sudden volume change, the cause of hollowing and skin thickness are assessed first.
We assess the gap between your current condition and desired changes, and discuss the treatment's scope and limitations. Individual responses can differ.
Number of sessions, intervals and duration
Immediate volume and later changes must be distinguished. Repeat treatment and assessment timing depend on response; a result lasting for a fixed period is not guaranteed.
Planning before and after treatment
- Consultation: share your medical history, past treatments and important dates.
- Planning: confirm the treatment areas, products or devices and recovery plan.
- Follow-up: follow the aftercare instructions and contact a medical institution about unusual symptoms.
Possible side effects and precautions
Injection treatments may cause redness, bruising, swelling, pain, infection, or allergic reactions. Risks of nodules and vascular complications also depend on the product and injection area. Seek immediate medical assessment if severe pain, skin-color changes, or vision abnormalities occur.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, inflammation at the treatment site, implanted devices and medication can affect suitability. A clinician should assess these according to the guidance for the particular product and device.
Sculptra prices and costs
Final cost depends on the exact product or device, area, amount, number of sessions and any additional procedures. Check VAT inclusion and event eligibility conditions together.
